My other computer is infected with Antivirus2010?

Malware Removal Tool

Before you tell me to download Malwarebytes or any other spyware removal program, I already have done so. The problem here is that even after killing av2010 programs and svchost processes via task manager and msconfig, I still keep getting a countdown from the malware that shuts down the computer within a couple minutes, long before Malwarebytes can find and remove any malware in the system. If I open task manager, it shows up as "System Countdown" but when I click End Task, nothing happens and the countdown continues, only to shut down the system without me being able to make any progress. Is there anything I can do besides reformat the computer?

If your answer tells me to download some general malware scan-and-remove tool, I will report you. You clearly did not read the whole question before giving a generic, copy/paste answer.
What if I ran Windows in safe mode, then ran Malwarebytes?

Security Suite Virus! Please help me get rid of this thing!?

August 23rd, 2010

Malware Removal Tool

Okay, so I have the Security Suite Virus. The Virus which disguises itself as an Antivirus/Antimalware software alert system and attempts to have you purchase the "full version" of this pretend software. I found an answer on Yahoo! Answers which led me to bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-suite. It has great input on how to rid my computer of the virus…however I am running into larger problems.

In the instructions on how to get rid of the virus, it has me launch windows in Safe Mode with Networking. It then has me go into Internet Explorer and Tools and Internet Options and Connections and LAN Settings and uncheck the box under the Proxy Server section labeled Use a proxy sever for your LAN. It then has me download rkill.com and run the program. This is all with the intention of downloading Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. However, the computer randomly shutdown on me after I ran rkill. And i mean just completely died (did not go through a shutdown process) it just BOOM…black screen, everything is dead, etc. I have to unplug the power cord from the back of my laptop and plug it back in again before the computer allows me to power it back up. Once powered back up, I start it in safe mode again, and before I can do anything further, it shuts down on me again. Same exact way. This has happened to me 4 or 5 times in a row. I’ve now started the computer normally…and I’m here writing this question. So, if someone has advice, moral support, or anything that could be of assistance…I’d love to continue in my attempt to get this virus off the computer. Everything else seems logical.

Anyways…if anyone reads the insructions from Bleeping Computer, can you also let me know if I even need to run Malwarebytes??? I already have Avast and Superantispyware downloaded and installed…will they perform the same function. I’m just wondering if perhaps Bleeping Computer and Malwarebytes has a partnership, etc.

Thanks again!!!!!!!
Many of your pieces of advice I have tried. However, when I am in Safe Mode with Networking…the computer keeps randomly shutting down before I can go on with any of the other steps!!! How do I keep the computer from shutting down long enough to run Malwarebytes???

Better than Ad Aware 2007 SE? What do you recomend and why?

August 16th, 2010

Malware Removal Tool

I was using Ad Aware as a tool for tracking cookies removal and such at both home and all the office computers. It seems its been well over 100 days since there has been an update available for ad aware and to the best of my knowledge there isnt going to be one, so, I must be moving on.
At work we have a serious set up of firewalls that I cannot compromise.
So, Whats good? I am now using a bunch of things Microsoft Malware Scanner, CCleaner, AND Windows Defender.
I dont want to install the CCleaner on all of our computers because it wipes out our saved settings each time and that bugs me, I can just use the Internet Explorer tool to remove temp files and cookies gently so it doesnt wipe out all our data.
Anyhow, what is ewido? Any good? Do you see a reason I should keep CCleaner when I can clean my registiries myself, I need something for the tracking cookies, adware, malware, without compromising my current virus protections?

What do you recomend and why?

What is the best Spy/Adware removal tool?

August 8th, 2010

Malware Removal Tool

I’m not talking about Programs you have to buy. I want Freeware. Not "Free to try" or something that will Scan for problems for free, but then you have to buy an upgrade in order for it to fix it. I can’t help but think that at least 75% of the time, the same fools that CREATE the Spyware, are the same fools that Provide the Paid service to remove their OWN problem that they infected your computer with. So, I sure as hell am not going to pay them for a solution to what could possibly be a problem they manufactured. Needless to say, I’m a little skeptical about programs you have to pay for, so if Anyone knows of a free one that works wonders. let me know.

ps: two that I’ve found so far, that I like are "Malware-Bytes’ Anti-Malware" (www.malwarebytes.org) and "Spyware Blaster" (www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster) although, they don’t find everything, I’m trying to find supplementations to these products.

"Security Tool" Virus/Malware/Adware Removal?

August 5th, 2010

Malware Removal Tool

My mom picked up the virus "security tool" from a random site and now I’m trying to remove it.

important note: The infected computer has 4 login accounts, and apparently only one of them is infected.

As you should know, these kinds of viruses prevent antivirus software from running, and I can’t scan the computer while using the infected account. However, I can scan the computer from the other accounts. But will the scan actually "reach" the infected account?

I have tried a malwarebyte’s "quick scan" on another account. But this doesn’t seem to work. Will performing a "full scan" solve this?

any suggestions?

Your help is greatly appreciated, I do NOT want to lose all of those family photos on that pc.

Trojan Virus Removal Help?

Malware Removal Tool

I recently was attacked by a Trojan known as Trojan:Win32/FakeSpyPro. It disabled my IE and now I am unable to use it. Along with my Google Chrome and Yahoo Messenger. So I deleted them and reinstalled them. They still do not work. I have Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Defender, Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, and I use the Malicious Software Removal Tool by Microsoft and then I can not get rid of the effects of this Trojan.

http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan%3AWin32%2FFakeSpypro

That website there tells about it. I have removed everything I have found infected and have scanned my computer repeatidly and it is not finding anything. I also am now forced to use Firefox. My operating system is Windows XP. This has made my experience online very frustrating. I am begging someone to help me. Please…
I also use a wireless connection. The connection works fine, btw.
Thanks to everyone! I got it fixed thanks to you all. :) My life just became a whole lot easier thanks to you all. I appreciate it very much, (I am trying not to say ya’ll) lol

How to open Malwarebytes' Anti Malware?

August 1st, 2010

Malware Removal Tool

I got the Security Tool virus, and following the steps on this site:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-tool

I’m on step twelve, and when I click on the Malwarebytes’ Anti Malware program I just installed, nothing happens. (I’m in Safe Mode right now, so there is no Security Tool).

Why won’t it open? The pointer just turns into an hourglass for a split second, then nothing happens…

:/
Instructions say to not restart the computer, and running it in normal mode won’t let me run the rkill program

???

I have no clue what to do?

Safe site to download malware for removal practice?

July 28th, 2010

Malware Removal Tool

I’m looking for a web site that provides viruses and malware that I can install on a test computer. I want to do so for the following reasons: to test the effectiveness of malware removal tools, to learn the signs of an infection for early detection and to do so in a safe, controlled environment. I need it to be a site dedicated to the purpose. I could easily get infected in the next five minutes just by clicking around while using IE, but I don’t want to infect this computer, I want to let lose the software on the targeted test computer. any ideas?
@Say no to ignorance: MBAM is the anti-malware program I use. The computer I want to infect is unable to connect to the internet. It’s an older laptop, barely able to run XP.

@Andrew: I didn’t know about that site. It is a very helpful resource. But I’m looking for something I can download safely, without executing, like a zip file that will install it’s self once extracted.

There should be some sort of such site, right?
